Another trip to the Bank, was as enjoyable as ever. Emma and the other staff were excellent. The food was up to its usual high standard, and accommodation first class.Only (very minor ) negative comment, is the extractor fan in loo didn\'t work. I\'ll sort it on our December trip!

Return to Anstruther -
Enjoyed a two night ITISON stay, B &B with a £20 each towards Dinner on one night.Staff extremely welcoming, pleasant and willing to help.Allocated a large room looking onto the High Street at their No 19 annexe next door. Dinner and breakfast were excellent.Quality of the bedroom, that sported 14 drawers, a wardrobe with good hanging space plus 4 open shelves, a larger than average LCD TV, and a commodious fridge was very much to our liking. Only downside as far as we are concerned is allowing dogs in the bar-diner area [ not the veranda restaurant] given that the Bank\'s room policy is clearly stated, as being strictly \"pet-free\"

Ticks all the boxes - a great find! -
Booked the hotel for a relaxing January break for myself and my friend - I love the East Neuk of Fife and all the little villages and this was a perfect location. The staff could not do enough for you and were very pleasant and friendly and gave us the impression they were happy in their work. We were shown to our room which was a lovely big, spacious room with everything you would need for a relaxing break - the bath was wonderful, as was the shower and the room was lovely and warm with beautiful floor to ceiling windows - if I had to make one change it would be that our room faced the back with the view of the sea and slightly less noise as the street was pretty noisy, both early morning and during the night, however, when you book a room above a pub and on a main street, then you know there will be a bit of noise - nothing that my earplugs didn\'t fix. The breakfast was out of this world and we ate at the hotel for dinner on the Friday night - would highly recommend the \"Hot Stone Steak\"- it was to die for! All in all, we had the perfect weekend break and felt rested and very pleased with our choice of hotel. Thanks to all the staff - we will return! :-)

Beakfast catered for all needs, well cooked &plenty of it.The staff were amazing, so very helpful, nothing was to much trouble even when they were very busy!Loved the sausage rolls &pies free to all in the pub, just what we needed after celebrating Hogmanay 😉Would I stay again? Xmas break -
Hi We had a first class stay at your hotel. The room was very clean &comfortable. The needs of the guest have been considered ie.fridge, brolly etc.The staff are very welcoming &the food excellent. There was only one negative I feel I must bring to your attention. We were in room 6 &being at the front of the hotel a certain amount of noise is to be expected. However, at 4 am a Menzies van made its delivery to the convenience store across the road. The doors were banged open &shut, the newspapers were thrown off the van it was loud &I am definitely not a light sleeper. Two other vans followed this but were not as noticeable. I only bring this to your attention so that others will not have their time spoilt in what otherwise is a great hotel in a beautiful area. This aside we will be back.

Fantastic Weekend Retreat -
From arrival to departure the staff at The Bank were welcoming and friendly. Just spent 2 nights staying at this Inn and would highly recommend it to others. Doesn\'t look much from the outside, but the room and food certainly deserve the 4*s this Inn has. Dinner and breakfast was excellent....leave starting your diet till after your visit!!Lovely view of the sea from downstairs room and easy access to outside patio atea.Only downside was having to park the car in a public car park overnight as there is no car park at the Inn.

good weekend -
loved our stay, room was fantastic especially the massive bath.Staff were very attentive and constantly asked us if we were happy with our stay.Food was excellent and service was first class.Only one slight complaint, the conservatory restaurant was cold, especially as we were sat in a corner which was all glass doors and draughty. We eventually asked to move into the main bar to get some heat and finish our drinks.

Bank - 14/15 Dec 14 -
Booking easy.Parking difficult as the Bank is right on the road and doesn\'t seem to have its own area. All night noise from road - so would go for a room facing the sea next time. Reception in the bar, very helpful.Room huge and giant bath.Only minor adverse comment - no mention by breakfast waitress of \'help yourself\' for juice, cereals, etc.Very pleased indeed and would happily visit again

Lovely room and bathroom. Great views (room 1) clean, well maintained and run. Lovely meal, good service, nice friendly staff and free bottle of wine to boot! 😃 the only negative things was the lack of wifi and the noise from the bar on the Friday night, which I suppose at this timeof parties is only to fe expected. That aside we would have no hesitation on staying again, or recommending it. Well done the bank!

The room we had was excellent, it was very spaciousand bright. The bath was huge too. The menu had a large selection andc the food was well cooked. Breakfast was cooked to order and fresh. Only minor gripe was the noise from the traffic, but this was due to temporary traffic lights.Overall highly recommended.

Food and accommodation a very high standard. Stayed one night for a 60th birthday party. Room was excellent, one slight drawback...it was a road facing room and there was plenty of noise outside with people heading home after a night out. A couple who we were with had a sea facing room and they said that was quiet all night. Had an evening meal in the dining area and it was plentiful and tasty. Breakfast was also good with plenty of choice. We are now looking into another stay there for a pre Christmas night out.

Itison deal -
Just returned from a 2 night stay at the Bank. It was with an Itison deal. Great value for money. The hotel is lovely. Warm and cosy and lovely bright clean decor. We had room number 1 with great sea views. The room was huge and so was the bathroom. Definately one of the cleanest and largest rooms we have stayed in. Emma attended to us on our arrival and departure and during breakfast/dinner time. Very friendly and efficient. We could not fault the hotel or the great breakfasts. The only negative and a small one at that, would be the the cook your own steak which is on the menu. We didn\'t order it but the whole dinning room fills with smoke, so much so they have to open windows and doors and we felt we had been smoked! We had the mussels to start which were great but neither of us could eat our fajitas as there had been far too much seasoning put on them they were extremely salty. However, this small issue would not prevent us returning or suggesting it to friends and family.

Touring Scotland -
We had a great night in Anstruther, the hotel was wonderful, rooms were spacious and clean and the loch view was brilliant. Parking was a bit of an issue as we were touring by motorbike and it\'s not ideal to park a long way from where you can keep an eye on it. Wifi was also hit and miss, mostly miss in the room, but on the whole we had a great stay and the staff were lovely.

A great hotel -
Virtually everything about the Bank contributed to a memorable break - the staff, the food, and the general atmosphere. We had one evening meal there which was fine and the breakfasts quite excellent. The lack of a car park was not really a problem, as the free public park is only a block away and you can stop outside the hotel to load and unload. Our only slight problem was room 8 was a bit noisy in the night. More mechanical noise than people in the bar above. A bit of furniture moving too in the very early morning when the cleaner comes in.We would definitely choose to stay there again.

Dinner and breakfast at The Bank were both great;my son says that you do the best fish and chips, despite the awards won by the local chippie! Food was of a good quality, well presented and plenty of it. Service was excellent;staff were available, friendly and helpful. The weather was awful but we were happy to stay out of the rain in the cosy bar, the lovely restaurant and our comfortable room. Will definitely stay again. Thanks.

Staff were attentive and friendlyFood - delicious but the portion sizes were actually too much for us! Next time we would just go for the high tea.Outside noise - the only downside was we had the front bedroom which got a lot of noise from the street. Second visit to 'The Bank'. The rooms are some of the best I've ever seen , the breakfast IS the best I've ever had in 40 + years of travel, but the real jewel in their crown is the staff;from the bar, to restaurant, to domestics, everyone that serves you are a joy to meet. Service, at all times, with a smile. And to top the lot, the best pint of 'Belhaven' in Fife....!

My wife and I had a glorious stay at the bank. Our room was very spacious, comfortable, clean and welcoming. The staff at the Bank made us feel right at home and showed us where everything was in the room. We ate in the Dining room and there was a great array of courses to choose from. Breakfast was delicious and there were a variety of fresh fruits, cereals and juices provided too. The only downside was the parking for the hotel. Because we arrived quite late we had to park in the public car park at the top of the town. All in all we enjoyed ourselves and would book again.

Well Worth a Visit -
Stayed here in room 8 for four nights just before Easter weekend. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, nothing seemed to be aproblem for them. Nice clean fresh facilities, good wholesome food.Yes, as others have said, occasionally you can hear people walking back and forth above the room, but this was not a problem for us. Both the view and the proximity of the guests patio more than compensated for any inconvenience. Will certainly be our first choice when staying in the area.

Our stay at The Bank -
We had a fabulous stay at The Bank, it was very clean and comfortable whilst the staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay with you again and the food was scrummy. There ishowever one tiny thing that for me personally let our visit down which I did not find ou about till I got home.I was telling a friend what a wonderful time we had had and telling her about the complemtary wine and chocolates in our room,She said that she had ordered them for me as it had been my birthday the day before and had asked that a note be left with them so that I would know they were from her. Unfortunately this didn't happen I felt awful that I hadn't thanked her for my gift.

Very impressed with the level of service and the size of the room and room amenities...full Sky HD in-room on an enormous TV, comfy bed, excellentshower and jacuzzi bath! It puts some superior hotels I've stayed in to shame. Young staff very enthusiastic and charming and managed to sort us out with some bacon and sausage rolls in the morning despite us leaving an hour before breakfast began. Decent real ales in the bar too as a bonus!

Just returned from a lovely 2 night break to Anstruther where we stayed inThe BankHotel. Such a lovely place where the accommodationIs lovely, food is to die for and the staff are all lovely people. The onlysmall gripe I have was the room we stayed in was at the front and above the main entrance. This tended to be a bit noisy on a Friday evening. We will return again but request a room with a view at the rear.

One night in Anstruther -
We booked the Bank last minute and got a very good deal. I checked out Tripadvisor for reassurance and we were not disappointed. We had a very large room, very clean and comfy. We decided to eat in the restaurant and were very pleased with the standard, plenty of veg and good size portions. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we knew breakfast would probably be good if the evenng meal was anythng to go by. Cereals, fruit and a good selection of cooked breakfast to choose from.My husband had a cooked vegetarian breakfast and I opted for smoked haddock and poached eggs, I was presented with two perfectly cooked free range eggs and a massive fillet of haddock, locally filleted I was informed by the staff. The dining room was tasteful, bright and over looked the sea. I would recommend this hotel but especially out of season as it was an absolute bargain. We stayed in room 5 which unfortunatelydidnt get a very good wifi signal. The customer care was excellant. Thank you

I must add this did not spoil our stay. I would say at £135 for 2 people B&B for 3 nights was well worth it but i would not have paid £300 which was initially what was quoted on net when i looked at first

Nothing negative to say about the Bank! From the moment we arrived until departure we had a wonderful time.Accommodation is unbelievable- our bedroom and bathroom were bigger than our own at home - and even more luxurious with a jacuzzi bath!Lovely wee dining room just completed and with the sun shining through first thing in the morning was glorious. We had the most delicious meals during our stay -all freshly made and service was excellent with all the young staff attentive and helpful! All in all a wonderful experience and looking forward to returning in the near future. Helpful, efficient and friendly staff, lively, well stocked bar, good food and large and comfortable large rooms, all at reasonable cost. It's firmly established as our base for golfing on the Fife coast.

Really enjoyed the Bank, again. We had a well proportioned and comfortable room. The addition of a new extension/restaurant adds a real touch of class and now provides more seclusion from the bar area. It's a great space and has a great view. Will definitely be back.

Stayed here with my wife &two friends as part of an 'Itison' deal. The rooms we were allocated were absolutely superb, massive, huge comfortable beds with large TV (Sky) &a lovely bottle of red wine waiting for us !!Ate there both nights &the dinners were excellent as was the service.Could not fault this hotel on anything &their attention to detail is impressive which I believe is down to the fact it is privately owned by a hard working couple !!Would definitely return !!

First:the downside.Because it faced the street, the room was noisy late evenings and early mornings. The rest, however, is all positive! We had a lovely large room with a very comfortable bed and a good sized bathroom. The food was excellent, the service speedy and the staff were friendly and welcoming. It's a great place from which to tour the surrounding area.Oh, and we also liked the little clothes shop two doors away and the (independent) book shop just round the corner!

Having booked the Bank was unsure what to expect as the price was so reasonable. Both my wife and I could not believe how good the room and food were having stayed at other establishments for a much higher rate and nowhere near the quality. The room (1) was huge and spotless with a jaccuzzi bath and large separate shower, The food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful, I would not hesitate in staying here again if in the area.

We were very impressed with the spacious and well presented accommodation and thought it was excellent value for money. Our room was clean and we appreciated the added extras of chilled water, tea/coffee facilities and the selection of toiletries in the bathroom. We did find the bed less comfortable than other places we have stayed and our allocated room (2) maybe not the quietest to be in. However, we booked last minute and will make sure, when we return, to book a quieter sea room. The staff were friendly and the location very convenient for a stroll to the harbour. Lovely variety of fresh fruit for breakfast and good variety of cooked breakfast available. All in all, a very pleasant stay and very happy to recommend.

Great Value Short Break -
We stayed in The Bank for 2 nights last week on an Itison voucher deal which included dinner on first night, plus bottle of wine on arrival. I must say we were pleasantly surprised by the standard of the hotel and the food given such a modest price. We were in Room 1 on the top floor and it was fantastic - very large with a huge kingsize bed and a bathroom which was bigger then some hotel rooms I have stayed in. The room was very well equipped with a very large flat screen TV(with Sky);a mini fridge with complimentary water and a safe. Everything was spotless and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom had a large Jacuzzi bath and a large walk-in shower with complimentary toiletries. The view was of the sea and the harbour and really lovely.Breakfasts were excellent with a huge variety of choices freshly cooked to order in the conservatory restaurant. Dinner was also good with a reasonable selection of choices. Staff were very friendly and we had a thoroughly enjoyable visit.

Great breakfast in the pub area.Excellent staff.Josh very helpful and hospitable. Jillian very helpful and friendly. A great place to stay.We were in the area to visit St. Andrews and your guest house was only 12 minutes or so from St. Andrews.

Room 2 -
Pleasant staff &the cooked breakfasts were excellent &the selection to choose from was extensive. Our room (2) was very well appointed &ultra clean except for marks on the bottom edge of the white valances at the ends of both beds which appeared to be shoe scuff marks. The mattresses were very soft &a bit lumpy but our friends who stayed in Room 3 saw new mattresses being delivered &were told by staff that the mattresses were being replaced which would solve that problem. We experienced slight noise from downstairs from music being played but to be honest it wasn't too bad but it was audible. Overall though we enjoyed our one night stay &would stay there again as the accommodation &food is first class.

Anstruther's Little Gem! -
From first to last, The Bank exceeds all reasonable expectations. The accommodation, in particular, is spectaculary good for the asking price on all counts - room size, decoration, quality of furniture and fittings, facilities, bathroom quality etc. Genuinely between four and five star hotel quality, and worth at least 50% more than the asking price. Even more exceptional value when one includes the four complimentary bottles of chilled mineral water, AND the voucher for a free drink at the bar!The small restaurant serves a conservative menu that neither attempts to play to the sterngths of local cuisine, nor places an overtaxing burden on the chef. However, the quality of what is offered is, again, well above average, and yet very reasonably priced. The excellently cooked and presented rump steak, for instance, that featured in the mixed grill, could easily have commanded the menu price on its own, without the additions of the equally excellent black pudding, haggis, sausages, bacon, egg, tomatoes, mushrooms, etc., all for an extremely modest price. The wine list alone signals a certain lack iof confidence in this otherwise brilliant venue. Out of five listed reds, three are Merlots, with one Shiraz and, as the most exotic of all, the supermarkets' favourite Rioja - good old Campo Viejo. The good news is that, again, the mark-up is modest, with the Rioja priced at £13.95.Throughout our stay, we were very impressed with the staff, all of whom were unfailingly friendly, helpful and efficient. All areas of the establishment were spotlessly clean and well-maintained.The beer garden is a small paradise in its own right.Overall, The Bank is, in its class, pretty well as good as it gets. If there is year-round local demand, then there are certainly avenues to be explored with bringing the F&B side up to the same wow-factor standard as the accommodation - but I'd happily come back for more, any day - even at a significantly higher price!

The Bank was an ideal location for our trip to watch the golf at St. Andrew's. The room we had was huge and had a gorgeous sea view to the rear. Although the front of the room was adjacent to the road, the noise was minimal and did not affect sleeping. The service was excellent and the staff very friendly-nothing was too much trouble. The food was very good. We had our evening meal on the Friday and it was very tasty. We would recommend booking on Saturdays-we didn't and couldn't get a table. best bunk beds ever...Dad. -
Stayed for two nights mid week. We were in the the "noisy front room"but we had no problems sleeping in thissplendid room , imaculaty presented, and plenty of space for a boisterous 5 year old...When he wasn't perched in the top bunk of his own adjoining room, giving a running commentary of the tide movements or rabbits on the green from the room window. In the end up he was fighting his Grandpa for a seat in the window, just to enjoy the view. Meanwhile the rest of the party enjoyed the secluded residents only garden , a wee hidden gem, Oh and it was granny who ate all the wild strawberries from the flowerbed. Great food and Probably "the best fish in chips in town", fantastic friendly staff.Look forward to a return visit to try out the extension to the dinning room.

I was one of the 4 people booked in by Peter Overton.I was very much impressed by the value for money at 'The Bank'. The fittings and furnishings in the room were of high quality, the staff very friendly, a thoroughly enjoyable stay - we have already booked for next year.

Really enjoyed our stay. Only one young child in our group - 19/17/13 and two adults. Took 2 rooms and both were very comfortable and clean. Family room Sky didnt work. Had dinner in your hotel on the Sunday night and really enjoyed that. Will hopefully be back again.

Golf haven east neuk of fife -
Fantastic venue. We used the BAnk as base camp for our annual golf 3day tour . The rooms are spacious, immaculate and the best value around. The staff are superb and breakfast and in house food the best we have had in 25years of golf touring. I will use the BAnk again for all our golf trips and for family weekend jaunts soon. Well done. A true gem in this day and age of mediocrity? The real ale also a big bonus!!!!

Top notch! -
We spent two nights at The Bank and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.Tastefully decorated, sparkling clean with excellent staff. Everything had been thought of for guests, even down to umbrellas to cope with our uncertain weather (we were lucky, we didn't need to borrow one!).Breakfast and an evening meal were lovely. The sea view was stunning and we enjoyed having an afternoon coffee in the garden. We hope to return and keep fingers crossed for a room facing that stunning view! Will recommend to our friends.

Bank Hotel -
We have stayed in many hotels and I can honestly say we had the most delightful stay at the Bank Hotel. The room number 6 was excellent, cleaned to a very high standard. Amenities very good with towel set for each of us and renewed daily. The quality of bodywash/shampoo &conditioner again surpassed our expectations we also enjoyed the fridge which kept the kids juice nice and cold. I would like to thank the staff for being professional and pleasent. The food was excellent in fact we can not Fault the hotel in any way. Will be back.

Stunning Room -
We stayed in Room 1 which was absolutely gorgeous and the view from our windows was equally lovely.Unfortunately, we did not really get to take full advantage of the room or the bar/restaurant as we were at a music event which ran from early afternoon until very early the following morning!I've read reviews which state that the noise from the bar can be quite disturbing and we were able to hear some noise during the time we were getting ready in the room but the bar was closed by the time we arrived back to sleep in our room.In the morning there was absolutely no noise other than the birds and the sea outside - bliss - just wish we had managed to get this room all weekend as opposed to the last night of our 3 night stay!Very minor issue - the water pressure in the shower kept fluctuating but not enough to spoil our stay.

Bank on a winner -
We had a two night midweek stay at the Bank at the end of March and cannot praise it highly enough. We got a warm welcome and were delighted with our room 4 facilities. The room was warm (mostwelcome as it was very cold outside). The decor was very clean and fresh, linen and towels sparkling white, tea/coffee/biscuits provided, marvellous view over river, en suite facilities immaculate with complimentary soaps, shampoo, shower gel and conditioner, all the little touches you could hope for. Amazing choice on the breakfast menu and the food was so good we had to forego the Anstruther chippie to have our evening meal at the Bank on both nights of our stay. Friendly, helpful staff help to make The Bank a great location for visiting the East Neuk area.

Firstly we are a couple around 40, so couldn't agree on the drop down box for either young couple or mature couple !! anywayThe Hotel has modern, lovely, spacious, and immaculately kept rooms. Ladies, learn from me and travel light, I always pack everything "just incase"as I have been caught out before, but here you dont have to as everything is included in the room:Towels both hand and bath, and yes they do dry you and more importantly they go around you.Gorgeous hand wash, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, bubble bath ( bath is huge, holds 2 comfortably lol), hairdryer is great and does not take a week to dry your hair. Fridge containing bottled water, still and sparkling.Little kettle with tea, coffee, hot chocolate milk sugar and lovely biscuits, all replenished daily. Internet connection is limited throughout the village (bonus as nobody can bother you ) but in the hotel it is fine as they have wi-fi. Food is varied and should suit everyone. Parking is limited, but once your parked up everywhere is within walking distance, you won't want to drive anywhere as it is so tranquill, and relaxing, we will definately come back. Thanks to all :-)

A gem in Anstruther -
Picked this hotel based on trip advisor reviews and we weren't disappointed. The hotel has been beautifully renovated and the room was extremely comfortable. Having been in Scotland for a 3 night break, the bathroom in our hotel room was bigger than the room we had stayed in the previous 2 nights and the jacuzzi bath was a welcome surprise. Great location overlooking the harbour. Bar staff very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. Good choice for breakfast. A very enjoyable stay, thank you

The Bank Hotel -
We are just back from a two night break at this lovely accommodation. The rooms are beautiful and clean with lots of space, the complimentary extras made all the differece, sky tv, bottled water, toiletries ect. The staff were very helpful and friendly, we had dinner on the first night and it was all very tasty, there was a good choice for breakfast and it was cooked to perfection. One member of staff even made reservations for a table at The Waterfront restaurant on our second night and called us on our mobile to confirm the booking, all very helpful. Can't wait to return.

Great break away from it all -
The room we had was a family suite which was spacious and the decor was lovely. The only suggestion for improvement would be to leave instructions on how to use the safe and we were unsure if the sky remote worked however they were only small problems. We ate in the restaurant and food was great and staff attentive and friendly. We ate in the sister restaurant the waterfront on the second night and food there was not as good the hake and mussels was overlooked and rubbery. So would not recommendthere but would certainly go back to the bank without hesitation.

The Best Bank we have visited -
We had a very enjoyable three night stay. The room was excellent, with a view over the sea to North Berwick. Everything we needed was provided and the room which was restocked and left as it was when when arrived every day. The breakfast menue was first class and the cooked food was prepared to order and was excellent. It was nice to see that the door steps had been washed down before breakfast. All of the staff were very helpfully and provided an excellent service. We had two evening meals and the service was again excellent and the food first class. Having recently stayed in 5 star holet in Hampshire, we found The Bank to be better in all aspects. We will be visiting The Bank again

We found the hotel very well equipped and in first class decorative order. In our room there wasn't enough room to hang a shirt in the wardrobe. Staying at the Bank -
Lovely clean room, superb bathroom and lovely friendly staff. Food at The Bank was excellentboth evening and also breakfast times. It was a super location to stay in, as we went over to St. Andrews to watch the Pro Am Golf. The only downside for me was the footsteps heard every morning when the cleaners came in at half 6 (above our bedroom) (room 8). I would still highly recommend The Bank to anyone wishing to stay there as this is a very minor complaint which far outweighs the lovely time we had there.

Bank stay 1 October 2012 -
Your rooms are a very high standard. The welcome and service were excellent. As you are only 8 miles from St Andrews your tarriff is far too low! I stay all over the UK, and £40 for what you offer is way too low - some people might think you were a bit grotty at that price and they couldn't be more wrong! Can't recall if you say on your website but might be worth stating that your rooms ar adjeacent to the hotel - some people might assume they were above, which is always alot noisier.Would definitely recommend - thaks...James

Beyond expectations -
We had chosen to stay in Anstruther to avoid the tourist Mecca of St Andrews. My partner had been their briefly before and suggested it a nice, quaint fishing village. The quality of accommodation was absolutely gorgeous and did not fit my image of quaint fishing village. We were fortunate to stay in room 1 which was almost the size of a palace. The bathroom was really great - the modern fittings and spa were greatly appreciated after a long day of travelling. I was very comforted with the way we access the rooms. The fact that he entrance to the accommodation was separate to the bar provided a added level of security. I will definitely be recommending this to my friends... Truly wonderful!

Excellent Hotel -
I stayed at the Bank for a long weekend at the beginning of September. The rooms were excellent (I was in room 7) facilities were superb and the staff were really friendly and helpful. I would certainly recommend this hotel and hope to stay there again. Worthy of the 5 stars I have awarded it.The food was excellent (particularly the breakfasts), my only complaint would be that they use frozen chips for their evening meals, which is such a shame. It’s a bug bear of mine that most hotels and restaurants use frozen chips for convenience.Fish and chip shops don’t sell frozen chips, and I suspect if they did no one would buy them, so why spoil a lovely meal with frozen tasteless chips. However that apart the food really was superb (and I switched to potatoes with my meal after the first night).

Great find in Anstruther. -
We booked a night at The Bank having been unable to find somewhere to stay in St Andrews when dropping our students off at the uni this year. But we may not even try St Andrews next year as this place was perfect.A lovely room with a sea view, nice little touches like complimentary water in the room fridge, shortbread and a big TV with all the Sky channels. The room was small but not a problem when you're only staying for one night. The ensuite was modern, clean and equipped with all the usual toiletries you would need.Breakfast is taken next door in the Bank's bar and restaurant and a good choice ofcooked food, cereals, fruit and toast is offered by the friendly staff. At £79 for the room and breakfast we thought it was excellent value and would definitely return.I would just like to point out though that there is very limited parking on the street outside The Bank and that the local free car park is a few minutes walk away. Not a problem for us but not ideal.

Adjacent bar not a noise pollution problem as old sturdy walls did not let any sound through. Staff pleasant and helpful at all times including service in the bar and morning breakfast. Stay at The Bank - Excellent -
Just wanted to say a big thanks for making our stay at The Bank and our break in Anstrther really easy and enjoyable. We stayed 4 days in August 2012.We stayed in the Family Room on the Ground Floor. The room is the best Family Room we've stayed in and the view from the kids bedroom was great. The room was really well eqipped, finished to a high standard and felt as though it had just refurbished.Having a TV in our room and the kids room was a real bonus. It was also a nice touch to receive a couple of free drinks vouchers or a 10% discount at The Waterfront restaurant. The accomodation is accessed via a different door to the pub itself and rather than being above, the rooms are alongside the pub which suited us better. Also like to say thanks to all the staff at The Bank who were really helpful and friendly all the times and couldn't do enough for you.Brilliant service - couldn't ask for more.Breakfasts were fantastic, plenty of choice of cooked breakfast and very generous portion sizes. We also ate in the restaurant a few times and the food and service was also fantastic. The Bank is a pub and so yiou get all the benefits of staying there such as Sky TV with all the sports channels, real ale and a great beer garden with a fantastic view - all on yoiur doorstep. My only negative comment would be the noise on Friday evening. This is a pub and so people can be a bit noisy coming in and out of the pub - that's just the way it is and it didn't actually bother us in the slightest. Many thanks again. We'd definitely recommend staying there and when we are in that part of the world again, it'll be our first port of call.

Break at Bank -
We stayed at The Bank for 3 nights. We found the accommodation through google and thought it looked lovely. We were really impressed by the cleanliness of the hotel and the size of the rooms. The facilities were simple but enough for our stay and very luxurious. The staff were so friendly and the food was excellent. We ate at The Bank one evening and the food was top quality and service so efficient. We will definitely return and so glad that we decided on Anstruther to stay and in particular - The Bank - and not St. Andrews as much more friendly and "homely!".

Reviewer:Robert DeMaria | Mon 23rd Jul 2012
The Bank hotel is fantastic in terms of location (for exploring the East Neuk and also walking on The Fife Coastal Path). Rooms (including bathrooms) are very spacious and quite luxurious for a small hotel. Toiletries provided in the bathroom are great and would not have to bring my own the next time. The staff were friendly. The only 2, very small negatives for me, were that the bed was too soft (I appreciate some people like that though) and the check-out time of 10.30am is a little too early. Overall, I had a great experience and would certainly recommend the hotel to anyone. Thank you!

Happy Holiday -
When booking, we werent sure what to expect at a Bank. To say we were surprised when we arrived is an understatement. The girls that met us at the bar were fabulous and very friendly. We booked in easily, got the keys and went to our room. We have travelled the world and I assure you the quality of these rooms rates with any 5 star hotels around the world. As I said we were surprised. Settled went down stairs to the pub for lunch. Food fabulous, easy and filled the spot. Checked out the bar, beer cold and varieties good. Easy walk into the township and shops. Came down for dinner, table was reserved for us. Again the four of us had an outstanding meal, plenty to drink and a fun night. The pub really rocked along during the night with the locals. This is as good a hotel we stayed in anywhere in Scotland. We will return and be staying for a few days. Many thanks.

3 Nights in Fife -
For anyone visiting this area The Bank is a MUST for a place to stay,The staff are welcoming friendly and efficient, our room was large very comfortable, and spotlessly clean ( I would have liked clean towels(same ones for 3 days) The food is of a good standard with a fairly extensive menu in particular the battered smoked haddock and the breakfasts. We willdefinately come back again, in fact we are planning a return visit already and this time we will be inviting friends to join us,we would recommend The Bank to anyone.Thank you to all the staff at The Bank for working to make it what it isgood luck and best wishes for the future.
Thank you for your kind words. We replace the towels every day that are left in the bath for us as the sign describes, but some residents do not wish them replaced thus hanging them back up.I wish you had said to us. We could of fixed this instantly for you.Again, many thanks for the review

As hoteliers ourselves we took the opportunity to get away from our place for a night and enjoy the Neuk of Fife.We had a lovely large room which was on the main street to the front but which had a bunk bed roomas part of the suite (presumably used as a family room usually) but which had a lovely view of the harbour and their garden from that window.Very comfortable, modern and spacious - would definitely recommend.

Room 1 is very spacious with a superb outlook. The bathroom has a large power shower as well as a bath and was also roomy. The breakfast menu was extensive and the cooked food was well prepared and presented. The only possible critism was that it would have been nice to have some more unusual prepared fruit just as fresh pineapple, figs or rhubarb. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel.

Spent two nights at The Bank, had a wonderful time. Our room was lovely (room 4) it was at the back of the hotel and had a beautiful view. It has a really lovely beer garden in the pub/restaruant side and lovely terrace/smoking area with access to small bit of beach depending on the tide on the hotel side. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was really good, we ate one nght in restaruant and food was really good. would reccommend and would stay again. The only problem we had was that the wifi did not work in room 4. I mentioned a previous review about it not working when checking in and was told a new router had been installed so it was now fully working, but did not work for us,but it didnt spoil our trip

The Bank is perfectly situated for a small group of golfers playing the Fife courses. The rooms are newly fitted out with quality fittings, spacious and very comfortable Twin beds can be converted to a large 6 foot double. Friendly bar and excellent breakfasts (I recommend the smoked haddock and poached egg). The Bank would be hard to beat and comes top of my list and this was our ninth year of golf in Fife.

All of our party thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Bank. We thought that the accommodation was exceptional and scrupulously clean. We really enjoyed the small garden overlooking the harbour which was a bonus. We would have eaten in the restaurant, but it was too much likepart of the bar area and rather noisy. We eventually ate at the Waterfont which was very nice, and perhaps if you could "soften"your eating area it might be more inviting. 10 out of 10 for the breakfast. We are hoping to return with even more friends in the next few months.Josh is a very good "host"

We stayed one night as a birthday treat for my sister. We were very impressed with the high standard of decor in the room. It was spacious, beautifully decorated and spotless. The ensuite bathroom was stunning! Even the toiletries were of a high standard. We ate in the restaurant that night and had a lovely meal. The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast in the morning was first class too. There were only a couple of negatives and they were not too serious. We didn't get a sea view room - our room faced the main road and could be noisy with traffic at times. Also, the wifi was not working in the room. All in all, we enjoyed our stay. However, if I came back, I would request a sea view room.

A hidden gem -
One night accommodation with my elderly mother.Although there are stairs in the premises which we knew before hand, my mum managed fine and with the help of the manageress, everything was made a lot easier. The booking of this accommodation was very useful and the manageress couldn’t have been more helpful, even sending photos! That’s the reason I booked.Room no 1 was reserved for us which was beautiful and very spacious indeed. The sea views are to die for too.The small garden area has an ideal section for residents - superb. There is some noise from the bar until closing time but this is to be expected given location.Again, eating in the bar in the evening, noise is to be expected……perhaps dividers could be considered from main bar to eating area just to give the idea of separation rather than the noise aspect. Breakfast was quiet with lovely sea views and very good quality with a wide variety of choice and service throughout was excellent.Visited the sister accommodation - The Waterfront - and again was given a lovely warm welcome and showed around a room for the next time I come back to the East Neuk of Fife if not in The Bank again. Thanks you so much for a lovely stay for my mum and me :-)

We had a fantastic time at the Bank. The rooms are huge with everything catered for, very clean, comfortable and with a superb bathroom. The only downside is there is no double glazing (due to conservation reasons) which makes it very noisy on early mornings, but in no way spoilt our break here. Only negatives were it was a little nosey with people outside going into the pub about 10pm and then as they all left, and the fruit in the morning looked like it had been about for a while. However, neither of these affected our overall stay. The breakfast was good, well cooked with a nice selection.Great overall stay, would visit again and definitely recommend to family and friends - in fact we already have.

The rooms were 1st Class. The level of service in the bar and restuarant was excellent. I would definately recommend The Bank to friends and would definately book another stay in future.

First Class! -
This is my second stay at The Bank, having also been a regular guest at The Waterfront Hotel in the past. The refurbishment has been done to a superb standard, like a boutique hotel that would cost upwards of £120 in a city. Beautiful views, great breakfast and charming staff-first class! I will be back, and have told all my friends about this hidden gem. Thanks to the staff and owners for this great hotel in the beautiful town of Anstruther.

Our stay at the 'Bank' -
We were a party of 8 staying at the Bank for 2 nights between Xmas and New Year.We enjoyed our stay very much.Rooms were spotless and the ensuites modern. The staff could not have been more helpful. We ate in the bar the first night and had a very enjoyable meal. Only downside was one couple had the room below the bar and it was a little noisy as the bar was open late that night! However the staff did go out of their way to help rectify the complaint.
